  • Grief is a natural and complex emotional response to loss. It often involves feelings of sadness, anger, guilt, and despair, and can also have physical, emotional, and psychological effects on the person experiencing it.

  • The causes of grief can vary widely depending on the individual’s experience, but most often it can be due to significant life events such as divorce, job loss, moving, chronic illness, miscarriage, loss of a pet, loss of financial stability, loss of identity, and death.

  • The responses to grief will vary from person to person, but most often the individual will experience a strong emotional response such as sadness, anger, guilt, anxiety, or numbness. Other types of responsive can be physical response - such as fatigue, difficulty sleeping, and changes in appetite - and also cognitive or behavioral responses such as social withdrawal or engaging in risky behavior.

What is Grief?

What is Grief Counseling?

Grief counseling is a type of therapy that is designed to help people cope with the emotional, mental, and physical symptoms caused by grief. Grief is a normal response to loss, and it can be experienced after a significant life event such as the loss of a loved one, divorce or end of a relationship, job loss, and many other things we encounter in daily life. As a certified grief counselor, Phelica Glass works towards creating a individualized plan for clients - ensuring they get the specific care and attention fit for their situation.

Grief counseling is designed to help individuals process their emotions, learn coping skills, and develop strategies for managing their grief, and help them move through the grieving process towards a sense of closure and acceptance. Grief counseling can be a powerful tool for individuals who are struggling with the effects of grief, providing a safe and supportive space for them to work through their emotions and find a path forward.

Stress Management

Stress management is the practice of identifying and managing the sources of stress in our lives in order to reduce its negative impact on our physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Stress is a normal part of life, but when it becomes chronic or overwhelming, it can have a range of negative effects on our health and quality of life. Stress management techniques can include things like exercise, mindfulness practices, time management, and relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or yoga. By learning to manage stress in healthy and effective ways, we can improve our ability to cope with life's challenges, enhance our overall sense of well-being, and reduce the risk of developing stress-related health problems.

Sex Addiction

Sex addiction, also known as compulsive sexual behavior disorder, is a condition characterized by a persistent and intense preoccupation with sexual thoughts, fantasies, and behaviors that results in significant distress or impairment in daily life. Individuals with sex addiction may engage in a range of compulsive sexual behaviors, such as excessive pornography use, masturbation, promiscuity, or compulsive sexual encounters. These behaviors can have serious consequences on personal relationships, work, and overall mental health. Treatment for sex addiction often involves a combination of therapy, support groups, and medication to help manage symptoms and develop healthy coping strategies. With the right support and treatment, individuals with sex addiction can learn to manage their symptoms and lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
